Coach: Tom Adams
Coach Adams says he is old. Not old just lived well!
Adams has been married for 40 years to his wife Lisa and has two grown children Jennifer and Eli. He happily enjoys his five grandchildren.
Tom is a 1964 graduate of Elkhart High School where he was a letterman in the areas of pole vault and High Jump. Adams then served in the Army for 2 yrs. 101st Airborne. He then became a 1972 graduate of Indiana State. At Indiana State he participated in the Javelin, Triple Jump, and Long Jump.
Adams is regularly seen at the YMCA where he devoted 22 years of work as a Youth Director, Program Director, and Senior Program Director. Tom also worked for Elkhart Community School for 13 years as an Assistant Director of Transportation where he retired in 2008.
Coach Adams has dedicated is life to helping student athletes achieve their goals. He was an Assistant Coach at Elkhart Memorial for 12 years in the area of jumps for Track and Field and 15 years as the Diving coach for the Swim team. Adams is proud to be serving back at old blue for the past few seasons in swimming as the diving coach and the track program as a vault and jumps coach.
Coach Adams says, “Set goals for yourself. I told my son I would dunk a basketball each year until I turned 50. Accomplished! At age 50 I could still High Jump 5’ Pole Vault 10’ and Long Jump 15’. At 60 I ran a half marathon. Never too late! Set Goal then Accomplish!” |
